Decided not to replace the coil. Bought one at O'Reily's and and it tested the same on the primary, 1.3 ohms. Put the orig coil back in and tried tapping it with a hammer because supposedly that will cause it to stall if the coil is bad, but no stall. Going to try the shock your a$$ test to visually check the spark.

    Fixed the problem.
Picked up a fuel pressure test kit from Autozone today. The pressure was fine and steady at idle. Took it for a spin, plugged in the gauge again and the needle began bouncing all over the place. At idle you couldn't here the engine change and the tac didn't change until the pressure dipped to 15 psi and even then there was only a very slight miss. blah blah blah....
I screwed up at the beginning of the summer by not replacing the screen when I replaced the original fuel pump.
The screen was $20 and didn't appear there was anything special about it so I just cleaned it with brake cleaner and blew it out with the air compressor. Tough summer-long lesson to learn about cutting corners.

Grocery getter is running again! Thanks to everybody who offered advice!
