Update #2 with questions http://www.nmoffroad.com/forumvb/mis...html#post98870
I apologize as I am sure this has been covered a million +1 times...I'm just too tired to do much...ok...*any* research. Please help me be lazy and answer my question.
Issues:
- One of my tires went flat and wont hold air. The sidewall is toast. I happen to have four barely used 31 x 10.5 tires sitting in my garage. So this means I *need* a lift
- My steering wheel is clocked about a full 310 degrees (clockwise). I'm guessing it skipped some teeth?
- My dw still plagues me at anything over 45mph. I haven't *done* anything but research this. (it's my backup so I'll procrastinate forever)
So I like how the 4-5" lifts look with 31's. The rough country 4.5" is in my price range at ~$450. I don't really care so much about doing the work myself anymore if I don't have to/can afford it. I want my Jeep to work as a semi-reliable daily (more like every other day).
What would you do in my situation?

Xj?
A 4.5" lift on a XJ has a good chance of needing a new CV driveline and I personally don't care for Rough Country's product.
So - I'd buy, then install or have installed, the Rubicon Express 3.5" SuperFlex lift (RE6030) and then have it aligned.
Call Envy4x4 (Jeffro on this board) for pricing.
Your clocked steering wheel is probably a bent or mis-adjusted drag link. The alignment will fix that (if it's not bent).
I wouldn't worry about the DW until after you get the lift on - there's a good chance you will replace (or find) the culprit during the lift install.
I have done rustys 4.5 inch kits on a couple xjs with absolutely no issues. That longer shaft can handle a little more height without serious vibe or slipping out.
X2 on rubicon express, have used, installed, good quality for the coin!!
X'3 rubicon express, best bang for your buck!
Thanks guys. As I'm sure these $700 kits are tits that is currently a bit out of my range. I'd rather not spend more than $700 altogether. Does this mean I should keep saving or is there another, less expensive but close to similar quality option? If I said 3" would that change anything? I've heard of a 'budget boost' (with the word 'budget' I'm guessing this isn't an ideal lift?)...would this be comparable?
Yes www.rustysoffroad.com . Complete kits. You can use a budjet boost in combination with springs. A 3 inch rustys kit and a budjet boost will give you around 4.5 inches. If you slap on a 3 inch kit and you are not happy you can add a budjet boost.
Oh and a budjet boost is longer shackles and coil spacers. Hope that helps.
