Crossfit is probably the best fitness program out there right now, and its addictive. I've been doing it for about a year now on my own. You definately don't need an expensive gym to do it. Check out the main site at Welcome to CrossFit: Forging Elite Fitness for the work-out of the day. These are pretty intense and you'll most likely have to scale it down a bit. The "Brand X scaled workouts" link under "Getting Started" will tell you how to scale. Warning...you will be sore and the only cure will be more Crossfit. If you like the workouts and want more, then check out the gym.
