Default So I entered a triathlon

Last week, Jay talked me in to entering the Santa Fe Sprint Triathlon with him on July 17th.

    Genoveva Chavez Community Center

A sprint-tri is 5k run, 12 mile bike, 400 meter swim in this instance.

He found me a good training program online for beginners to lead up to these distances, and I've been following it pretty closely (except I haven't done a swim yet...that's Sunday).

Anyway, here's a couple of my online logs, if you are interested.

Today's run with my new Garmin 310xt:
Running - Ventana Ranch by abqtj at Garmin Connect - Details

    First run, for a comparison:
Training Day 1 by abqtj at Garmin Connect - Details

    First bike:
5 Mile Beginning Bike by abqtj at Garmin Connect - Details

    Wednesday's bike (damn wind!):
Bike in Ventana by abqtj at Garmin Connect - Details

Anyway, I'll probably through some posts up in this thread from time to time, to update myself.

Oh yeah, here's my original two goals:

    1. Finish

    2. Don't die

I've modified #2 to Have Fun!

I'm proud of you Steve. You're gonna do great!

edit: btw, how do you like the Garmin Forerunner 310XT? I use that Nike+iPod stuff for my runs just because I like to run listening to music.

Nice Steve! I've started running and mountain biking again over the last month too.

I don't think I'll be doing any triathlons any time soon though.

There's still plenty of time for training before the SF Sprint Tri....

Did you end up buying a new HRM?
Steve showed me this: DC Rainmaker ... good stuff in there to help you decide if you haven't already.

Not yet, I'm still using my Edge 305 for both running and biking. I just bought an arm band case that I use for running, although it's sucks not being able to monitor HR and distance during the run.

I was planning on ordering the Forerunner 305, but I may have to look at the 310xt.

Did you ever do any tri's on your mtb bike? How much to get into a decent road bike?
