Thread: Scrambler Build Questions

Since you dont have an engine to start with I would definately either get a 5.3 or LQ4 6.0. They are reliable, can be found cheaper than LS engines and the only difference is the iron block which makes up for 70ish pounds IIRC. The truck and SUV intakes will give you better torque over the LS intake as well. A 6.0 with nothing more than headders, a tune and a K&N style filter will get you to around 375 hp. Even more with a cam swap. This is what I will be putting in my buggy whenever that time comes.

The LQ4 is what we have in our Sierra. Damn nice motor.

If I'm not mistaken, there's a guy on Pirate that sells used motors, complete with the computers and harness pretty cheap. I want to say a 5.3 is under $1000.

X2...If the 4 speed Atlas had been out when I built my Jeep, that is what I would have.
I like my Klune and it is great to have the multiple gearing options. I love having the factory 231 low range plus the 4:1. I use them both a lot.
I would think that you could sell the 4.3 and buy the 4 speed cheaper than the cost of the 4.3 and the Klune.
